I purchased the 2014 U08 13.1 Navigation update DVD off Ebay.
The Ebay auction notes that this update is compatible with my 2002 LX470.
I located the DVD player under the passenger seat.
I removed the quondam Navigation DVD and insert this i and I go "No Disk Detected"

Put the old DVD dorsum in and everything works.
Put the update DVD and still get "No Disk Detected"

Is there something I demand to do to prep this update or do I have a bad/incorrect DVD ????

My 2002 LX470 currently has a working ver.07.1

Now that you lot mention this, I vaguely recall the same.

This is the Ebay auction where I purchased it and it does state that it is compatible:
NEW LATEST Toyota Lexus U08 thirteen.i Navigation GPS Map Update DVD Gen two/3 EAST

The DVD has this on the characterization:
DVD Navigation Map
North AMERICA
U08
Toyota 86271-GN23E-13
Lexus PT219-GN23E-13
464210-2270
Information ver.13.1

Received replacement DVD from the Ebay seller - no joy, still will not work.

I wonder if this is the issue. My 2002 LX470 works with five.7 of the navigation db but I purchased my LX
from the West Declension. Here in the East (Northward Carolina), I just purchased the East version of the navigation db.
Perhaps - just a wild supposition - that the nav device has to update Due west to W rather than West to East?

Contacted the local Lexus parts department and they tell me that in that location is going to be an update coming out
this Oct and suggested I hold off purchasing a DVD.

sucks on the DVD not working but that'south a good idea - I never thought of that - ordering Due east v West - every bit I would order where my location is, but if information technology is dependent on where the Lx was from that makes sense...

Odd that Lexus said that an update is coming out every bit I thought (probably incorrect over again) that they wouldn't be updating our NAV systems anymore due to age - 2003 and/or 2000 previous (gen 2/3?)....

I'm beginning to think that to upgrade the Navigation DVD i needs to run
some special software to prep the upgrade. So little information available
about this.

I had an consequence with one of the dvd'due south I purchased on eBay, I'd take periodic read errors. Purchased some other dvd from another seller (updatemaps on eBay) and haven't had an event since. I've purchased two nav dvd's from updatemaps, as we have an 04 60 and a 07 LC, I've been happy with both. Paid $12.87 for each.

For reference, this guy (navigation_pros on eBay) is who sold me the bad disc, he never responded back when I tried to contact him.

I tried that besides - purchased two sets of DVDs from two dissimilar vendors on Ebay.
The offset set would piece of work but often would cause a Disk Error on startup. The
second gear up complains of No Disc all the time.

Guys merely a question if you replace the whole navagation unit of measurement and add a new unit with rear camera ,new navigation, Cd etc a pioneer or alpine a you still able to run the climate control of the new unit or no ?.

Probably should create a thread for this. Really has nothing to practise with the topic.

I was wondering if the DVD drive was not reading well; but the v7.1 works fine, so it is probable operating okay. My 01LX struggled with a 7.one upgrade disk with slow response times and erratic or odd routing options when two or more stops were added to a trip. It and so started giving read error letters, then I replaced the DVD unit with a Gen4 unit of measurement that came with v9.one. Information technology reads faster and has been updated to version 15.i (instead of max of v13.1, E or Due west on Gen2/3). A bad disc seems plausible, but twice, not so much. A different source may be worth a endeavour. In that location is a huge bound in data betwixt v7.1 and v13.one - the bulldoze may not be able to handle the actress load. If you go a replacement Gen4, you will be able to use upwards to v15.1 for the N.A. data on one disc. My unit came out of an 09 SC.

My Gen iii with v7.1 DVD works with no issues at all.
(I have a 2002 LX470)
But the new thirteen.1 DVD I get No Disc Inserted errors.

Sounds like I need to do what you did and find a Gen4 unit.
Is the box with the DVD bulldoze the Nav Unit - anything else needed?
Whatsoever thought on what the cost is?
Might check the Junk Yards for a replacement.

Also simply FYI because I didn't see it on here. 03+ the update disks go into the drive underneath the rider seat non in the center panel DVD changer. I didn't even notice the drive before since information technology's under a plastic over. Two plastic screws and the cover comes off. My truck had the older 2009 disk from Toyota for all of N vs the ebay update that is 2 disks and I think 2013. This may be because the update is so large information technology is also difficult to fit on one disk withal. Anyway, I simply actually demand West since I live on the West Coast however I couldn't get it to load. Ejected information technology and put East in and it worked then switched information technology out to Due west and it seems to now work fine. Verified that version 13.1 is now running on my system via impact screen menu by selecting "DVD".

Just curious if anyone has any updates to share. I recently bought a 2002 60 and it had the original navigation DVD installed. A buddy pointed me towards a vendor he used on eBay (Chris_Veal) to successfully update his nav organization (Gen 4 to 15.1) and I bought the Gen two/three 13.one DVDs. Today I followed the directions: engine on in park, squirt sometime disc, insert new disc (I used the West disc considering I am in Washington), and wait for it to install. Installation seemed successful but after the install screen finished I got a Check deejay / no Disk Detected fault. Ejected, tried the East version, and no install and no disc detected. Because it installed updated software my old disc no longer works. I've left the West in the system in case it decides to work and am waiting to hear dorsum from vendor, hopefully he volition send me new copies of the discs to try.

It seems like folks who were having errors with the Gen2/3 system and the latest maps available in 13.1 are more often than not reverting dorsum to using 7.ane discs? Are any of you Gen 2/iii Nav system owners successfully rocking a 13.one disc - and if and then tin you run across anything in my install that I have already washed incorrect (aside from maybe buying a cheap disc copy off eBay?).

Cheers! The kicker is I was generally happy with the 18yr quondam maps, but my area of the Puget Sound has had so much development I figured it wouldn't hurt to exist a lilliputian more recent with the nav information.

I tried to update my GPS DVD to U08 13.ane.
It worked sometimes but often it would brandish "No Disc error".
Got to exist such an annoyance that I reverted back to U02 7.1.
